কলম্বিয়ায় ৭ দশমিক ৫ মাত্রার শক্তিশালী ভূমিকম্প আঘাত হানার তিন দিন পর সবচেয়ে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত এলাকাগুলোর অন্যতম পেরেইরায় চীনা ভারী ক্রেন পৌঁছেছে। এসব ক্রেন ধ্বংসস্তূপের নিচে থাকা অত্যন্ত ভারী ও বিশাল কাঠামোগত অংশ উত্তোলন করবে। এর মাধ্যমে উদ্ধারকারী দলগুলো ধ্বংসস্তূপের গভীর ও দুর্গম অংশে পৌঁছানোর সুযোগ পাবে।
ভূমিকম্পের পরপরই ধ্বংসাবশেষ সরাতে যেসব সরঞ্জাম মোতায়েন করা হয়েছিল, সেগুলোর তুলনায় চীনা ভারী ক্রেনগুলোকে বিশেষভাবে ভবনের বড় বড় অংশ উত্তোলনের জন্য ব্যবহার করা হচ্ছে। এর ফলে উদ্ধারকারী দলের জন্য আগে দুর্গম থাকা এলাকাগুলো উন্মুক্ত করা সম্ভব হবে।
উদ্ধারকাজে অংশ নেওয়া অনেক স্থানীয় সংস্থাও চীনা সরঞ্জাম বেছে নিয়েছে। দীর্ঘদিন ধরে চীনা যন্ত্রপাতি ব্যবহারের প্রধান কারণ হিসেবে তারা এর কার্যকারিতা ও নির্ভরযোগ্যতার কথা উল্লেখ করেছে।
পেরেইরায় উদ্ধার অভিযানে অংশ নেওয়া একটি কলম্বীয় সংস্থার প্রধান বলেন, “আমরা এর মজবুত গুণমানের জন্য চীনা সরঞ্জাম বেছে নিয়েছি। বহু বছর ধরে এটাই আমাদের পছন্দ। আমাদের জন্য এই যন্ত্রগুলো অসাধারণ।”
পেরেইরার অবকাঠামো ব্যুরোর পরিচালক হুয়ান জিরালদো বলেন, “উদ্ধার অভিযানে তাদের জোরালো সমর্থনের জন্য, বিশেষ করে যন্ত্রপাতি পরিচালনায় সহায়তার জন্য আমরা চীনা সংস্থাগুলোর কাছে কৃতজ্ঞ।”
গত ১১ আগস্ট কলম্বিয়ার পশ্চিমাঞ্চলে ভূমিকম্পটি আঘাত হানে। সাম্প্রতিক বছরগুলোতে দেশটিতে আঘাত হানা ভূমিকম্পগুলোর মধ্যে এটিই সবচেয়ে শক্তিশালী।
জাতীয় দুর্যোগ ঝুঁকি ব্যবস্থাপনা ইউনিটের তথ্য অনুযায়ী, শনিবার পর্যন্ত ভূমিকম্পে মৃতের সংখ্যা বেড়ে ২৯৪ জনে দাঁড়িয়েছে। আহত হয়েছেন ৩ হাজার ৯৩৫ জন এবং নিখোঁজ রয়েছেন ৩২০ জন। এছাড়া ৩৫৩ জনকে উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে।

Chinese heavy-duty cranes deployed in Colombia earthquake rescue
Three days after a magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck Colombia, Chinese-made heavy-duty cranes have arrived in Pereira, one of the hardest-hit areas, to lift massive structural components too heavy for manual removal and help search teams access deeper parts of the rubble.
Unlike the debris-clearing equipment deployed immediately after the quake, these cranes are specifically tasked with hoisting large building components, opening up previously inaccessible areas for rescue teams.
Many local companies involved in the rescue have also chosen Chinese equipment, citing performance and reliability as key reasons for their long-standing preference.
"We chose Chinese equipment because of its solid quality. This has been our choice for many years. For us, these machines are outstanding," said the head of a Colombian company participating in the rescue operation in Pereira.
"We are grateful to Chinese companies for their strong support in the rescue operation, especially for their support with machinery operations," said Juan Giraldo, director of Pereira's Infrastructure Bureau.
The earthquake, the largest to hit Colombia in years, struck the western part of the country on August 11. The death toll rose to 294 on Saturday, with 3,935 people injured, 320 missing and 353 rescued, according to the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD).
