মুখপাত্র বলেন, দক্ষিণ চীনের কুয়াংসি চুয়াং স্বায়ত্তশাসিত অঞ্চল, মধ্য চীনের হুবেই প্রদেশ এবং উত্তর-পশ্চিম চীনের কানসু প্রদেশে সেনা সদস্য ও মিলিশিয়া সদস্যরা বন্যা নিয়ন্ত্রণ এবং দুর্যোগ ত্রাণ কার্যক্রমে নিরলসভাবে কাজ করছেন।
গণমাধ্যমের এক প্রশ্নের জবাবে ছেন জানান, একাধিক দফা প্রবল বর্ষণে এসব অঞ্চলে ব্যাপক বন্যা দেখা দিয়েছে। সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে কুয়াংসি, হুবেই, কানসুসহ বিভিন্ন এলাকায় ভারী বৃষ্টিপাত ও তীব্র বাতাসের কারণে বাঁধ ভেঙে যাওয়া, ভূমিধস এবং অন্যান্য প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগের সৃষ্টি হয়েছে।
তিনি বলেন, বন্যা নিয়ন্ত্রণ ও দুর্যোগ ত্রাণ বিষয়ে প্রেসিডেন্ট সি চিন পিং গুরুত্বপূর্ণ নির্দেশনা দিয়েছেন। নির্দেশনা পাওয়ার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে সব স্তরের সামরিক ইউনিট দ্রুত সংগঠিত হয়ে জরুরি উদ্ধার ও ত্রাণ কার্যক্রম শুরু করে।
ছেন সি’র দেওয়া তথ্য অনুযায়ী, এখন পর্যন্ত চীনের গণমুক্তি সেনাবাহিনী এবং চীনের সশস্ত্র পুলিশ বাহিনী ২ হাজার ৪০০ জনের বেশি সদস্য, ৭০টিরও বেশি নৌকা ও জলযান এবং ২৬০টিরও বেশি যানবাহন ও প্রকৌশল যন্ত্রপাতি দুর্গত এলাকায় মোতায়েন করেছে।
এ ছাড়া স্থানীয় প্রশাসনকে সহায়তা করতে ৫ হাজার ৫০০ জনের বেশি মিলিশিয়া সদস্যকে সংগঠিত করা হয়েছে। তারা ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত বাসিন্দাদের নিরাপদ স্থানে সরিয়ে নেওয়া, বাঁধ শক্তিশালী করা, ত্রাণসামগ্রী পরিবহন, পলি অপসারণ এবং বন্যার পানি নিষ্কাশনের কাজে অংশ নিচ্ছেন।

Chinese troops fight on frontline of flood control, disaster relief
Chinese service members and militias have been fighting on the frontline of flood control and disaster relief in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, central China's Hubei Province and northwest China's Gansu Province, a spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense said on Thursday.
Chen Xi, the spokesman, made the remarks in response to a media query regarding Chinese troops' emergency rescue and disaster relief operations following floods triggered by multiple rounds of torrential rains.
"Recently, heavy rains and strong winds in regions including Guangxi, Hubei, and Gansu have triggered a series of disasters, including dam breaches and landslides. President Xi made important instructions regarding flood control and disaster relief. Upon receiving the order, military units at all levels mobilized immediately and rapidly engaged in emergency rescue and relief operations. To date, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the People's Armed Police Force (PAP) have dispatched over 2,400 personnel, more than 70 boats and vessels, and over 260 vehicles and engineering machines, while organizing more than 5,500 militia members to assist local authorities in evacuating residents, reinforcing embankments, transporting supplies, and clearing silt and draining floodwaters.
