At a press conference on Wednesday, Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said that 100 ports include 56 airports, 27 seaports, and 17 rail and road ports. Taiwan residents who haven't applied in advance for the five-year permit can get a single-entry permit upon arrival. With a valid Taiwan ID, a Taiwan travel document, and a photo, they can apply for a single-entry permit at their port of entry within 30 minutes. These allow stays of up to three months, said Zhu. On Thursday, Taiwan resident Ms. Huang landing at an airport in Shanghai enjoyed the convenient service of getting a single-entry on-arrival travel permit. "I happened to have a business trip today. I was in a rush this morning, and forgot to bring my Travel Permit for Taiwan Resident. The flight attendant told me that it's okay, and I can get a temporary one upon landing. I just went through the process, and it was very convenient and quick. I'm really happy that this kind of service is available now," said Ms. Huang. The mainland has exempted those Taiwan residents who had never been to the mainland from paying application fees for their travel passes. They can also enjoy free admission to over 3,000 scenic spots in the mainland.
